Many pupils have a stomach bug

Dear Parents,

As many of you know we have a nasty stomach bug in school at present. Many of our pupils have been affected in several of our classes. There are strict guidelines we have to adhere to, in the best interests of other children and families. We have had several children say recently that they have had sickness/diarrhoea but their parents have told them not to say. As a result several other pupils, families and staff have now been affected with many parents/families now having to take time off work to look after sick children and themselves losing pay/holidays because of it.

As you know, we are committed to raising attendance and appreciate you as parents make getting them here. However, this bug is nasty and pupils have to stay off for the period below which directly from Public Health Wales.

For many catching this bug can be more than just that, especially with many individuals and their families going through various forms of treatment and also pregnancy. Please think of others before trying to send your child back to school too soon. We do not make these rules.

Diarrhoea and vomiting can spread easily

If you have a stomach bug, you will be infectious to others.

You're most infectious from when the symptoms start until 2 days after they've passed. Stay off school or work until the symptoms have stopped for 2 days.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter
