Abacus Maths 

Abacus is a unique maths toolkit written for the primary maths curriculum that has been carefully crafted on a robust approach to creating inspired and confident young mathematicians.

Abacus is built on three key principles:

1.  Understanding
2.  Progression
3.  Control

The 4 Pillars of Abacus are:

1.  Place Value – a robust understanding of how our number system works
2.  Number Facts – a good bank of number facts e.g. number bonds to ten
3.  Models and Images
4.  Doubling and halving

There’s an online planning tool for teachers and pupils get their own online world as well, within which there is a wealth of lively games, problem-solving activities, avatars and rewards.

We strongly recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers to use Abacus on Active Learn Primary.  If you prefer to use Internet Explorer, you will need at least IEG in order for everything to work as it should.
