Dear Parents,
Next week we will be moving onto multiplication! We already count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s in class so please could you continue to work on this at home. We will also be working on the 3 and 4 times table. Below are some of the songs we will be using to aid our learning – I thought they may be useful to you! You should be able to view them if you copy and paste the link. (Written in Blue) If you are unable to do this please go onto www.youtube.com and type the names of the songs which are written in red on here.

**Important from the PTA for the Aviva grant**
Can we ask all parents, family, friends - everyone! To vote for us please:
We've entered the Aviva Community Fund to ask for £10,000 for IT equipment for the school - a class set of Chromebooks and an ActivPanel interactive board.
Voting opens today (Tuesday 23rd) at 9am - if you could spare a few minutes to vote for Cwmlai Primary School IT Improvement on the link below it would be massively appreciated! And if your family, friends, neighbours and anyone you've ever known could too, that would be amazing!
Only the projects with the highest votes go through into the final round of considerations and the school could really do with some new equipment.
Voting closes on 20th November, so don't delay!!

We had a fantastic time in Techniquest. All of the teachers were very impressed with how well behaved the children were and, as you can see from the photos, they all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas.
Our topic this term is Big Wide World. We will be comparing the Antarctica with Wales and how it may have similarities and differences.
Children will be using geographical and research skills.
If you have any resources e.g. atlases, fact books etc we would be very grateful if you could bring them in and please label them with your child's name.

Thank you for your support.

As you are aware this week was multi-cultural week and the country we looked at was Uganda. We had a fun week learning about Uganda and comparing the country with Wales. We focused on how we recycled and used energy compared to Uganda. We also had a food tasting session and tasted some typical Ugandan food.
A huge thank you to all parents and family that attended our charity event this afternoon. It was a huge success and £194.14 was raised for our partner school in Uganda. The children throughly enjoyed the event...yet again they made us proud!
We were very fortunate to have a visit from a local travel agent. We found out lots of interesting information about booking holidays, different countries and different types of holidays.
Superb attendance in Year 2!
100 % attendance - Alfie and Shekinah
WELL DONE!!!
Tests:
The National Numeracy, Numerical Reasoning and Reading Tests will be administered between the dates of Tuesday 5th May – Tuesday 12th May.
We have been busy completing lots of past papers and practise papers in class to help prepare for the tests. If you would like to help your child prepare for the tests at home you can download and print off practise papers from:
Numeracy and Numerical Reasoning Practise Papers can be viewed and downloaded here - http://learning.wales.gov.uk/resources/browse-all/numeracy-sample-materials/?lang=en
Reading Papers can be downloaded here:

Welcome to Purple!
Our topic this half term is Travel Agents. We will be looking at other countries and comparing them to Wales. If you have any unwanted resources such as travel brochures, foreign coins e.t.c we would be extremely grateful of them.
Just to remind you all our P.E session is on a Wednesday. As it is the summer term I intend to use the outdoors, therefore can all children include trainers in their kit.
Thank you!
